Imagine…standing on Mt. Carmel where Elijah faced the prophets of Baal, or standing on the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount, or walking the streets of Nazareth where Jesus grew up, and visiting the sites where Jesus performed miracles.

Imagine…visiting the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus healed the crippled man, watching people pray at the Wailing Wall of the temple, and then walk in the footsteps of Jesus down the Via Dolorosa, following down this path of sorrow and the Cross, and ending the day with celebrating the crucified, but also the risen Lord!

Imagine…walking through the olive trees of the Garden of Gethsemane, sitting in the Upper Room, walking through the streets of Bethlehem, and standing on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem where the disciples once stood when Jesus ascended to heaven.

Imagine not having to IMAGINE this anymore, but actually EXPERIENCING it!

Tour Program

Led by: Pastor Wynand (Wayne) and Somari de Wet

Saturday June 17 (Day 1): Departing from USA

Today we embark on our Journey to the Holy Land.

Sunday June 18 (Day 2): Arrive Israel (Tel Aviv)
On our arrival in Israel we will meet our tour guide Makhoul Makhoul, a Jewish Christian, with years of experience in the tourist industry.  Time permitting, we might take a walking tour in Joppa (Jaffa) where Simon Peter stayed with Simon the tanner.  Our hotel is on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in Tel Aviv, so you will have time to either swim or walk along the Mediterranean and relax before we have dinner.

Monday June 19 (Day 3): Caesarea, Megiddo & Nazareth (Tiberias)
After breakfast, we travel by private motor coach along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea to Caesarea, where Gentiles first heard the Good News from Peter and were baptized. We will visit Mt. Carmel, where Elijah challenged King Ahab and the prophets of Baal.  Next we travel through the Jezreel Valley to Megiddo, the Armageddon Battlefield, where archaeologists have unearthed 20 levels of civilization. We drive through the area of Cana and Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus. We will have dinner and overnight lodging for the next two nights in the Tiberias area on the Sea of Galilee.

Tuesday June 20 (Day 4): Capernaum, Dan, Caesarea Philippi & Mount of Beatitudes (Tiberias)
Following breakfast, our morning travels take us to two valuable northern sites. Dan is where the children of Israel fell to the depths of pagan worship and Caesarea Philippi, the site of Peter’s Confession and one of the sources of the Jordan river.  In Capernaum we will visit the ruins of an ancient synagogue and Peter’s home. Then we travel on to the possible site of the multiplication of loaves and fishes in Bethsaida and the Mount of the Beatitudes overlooking the Sea. We will enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Sea of Galilee.  A brief scripture reading and devotional on board brings to life the experiences of Jesus and the fishermen disciples concluding a wonderful day.

Wednesday June 21 (Day 5): Jordan River, Beth Shean, Bethany & Dead Sea (Dead Sea)
We begin our day with a stop at Beit-Shean/Scythopolis, an archeological site, located at the strategic juncture of the Jezreel and Jordan valleys. Like Jericho, it has been almost continuously occupied throughout history. After defeating Saul and his sons on Mt. Gilboa, the Philistines hanged their bodies on the walls of Beit-Shean. During the time of Jesus, Scythopolis was one of the chief cities of the Decapolis - a league of ten cities sharing Greek culture and government. We pass through ancient Jericho and stop here for lunch.  Jericho is famed as the oldest city in the world. Next stop will be Bethany Beyond the Jordan, the place where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, where Elijah and Elisha crossed the Jordan as well as the area where the children of Israel led by Joshua entered the Promised Land. Our lodging for the evening is at the Dead Sea - the lowest place on earth. Spend time in the special spa and enjoy a dip in the Dead Sea for a relaxing float before dinner.  Do not frown upon the people covering themselves in Dead Sea mud it makes your skin feel so soft, you will want to experience that.

Thursday June 22 (Day 6): Masada, Ein Gedi, Dead Sea Scrolls, (Jerusalem)
Our day begins with a cable car ride to the mountain top fortress of Masada. Here our guide will treat us to the history of the famous zealot stand. Afterwards we proceed to Ein Gedi, "Spring of the Goat", an oasis on the western shore of the Dead Sea. Because of its warm climate and abundant supply of water, the site developed a reputation for its fragrant plants and date palm groves. This is where King David hid from Saul, and where God defeated the enemies of the Israelites by praise and worship led by King Jehoshaphat. Next, we visit Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Our lunch will be at Genesis Land, where you might get the chance to ride on a camel.  From here we head to Jerusalem, where we stay in a hotel on the Mount of Olives with a panoramic view of the old city.
